Less healthy but still healthier choices:
Maple syrup
Maple syrup contains a fair bit of sugar, so consume use with caution. That said, it does have some antioxidants, calcium, iron and potassium in it, and is easier on your blood sugar than refined white sugar is.
Molasses
Molasses is a bit less sweet than sugar and is a good source of various vitamins such as niacin (vitamin B-3), vitamin B-6, thiamine, and riboflavin but it does have a very distinct flavour, so make sure you like it before using it. It is also important to note that while there are some great nutritional qualities to it, Molasses still contains high levels of sugar so it too should be used with caution.
