- 1 cup water
- 1 cup maple syrup or sugar
- 12-oz bag fresh or frozen cranberries (3 cups)
- 2 apples, peeled, cored and quartered
- 1 Stick of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest
- Bring water and syrup or sugar and cinnamon stick to a boil, stirring until syrup is dissolved.
- Add cranberries and simmer, stirring occasionally, until berries just pop, 10 to 12 minutes. Stir in zest, then cool.
